Paris Fashion Week 2024 Day 3: Minimalism, Extravagance, and Alien Vibes

6 mins read

Paris Fashion Week 2024 Day 3 was a feast for the eyes. There was subversive minimalism by Courrèges; Acne Studios combined home and extraterrestrial elements, while sculptural designs by Balmain stole the show. Nicolas Di Felice revived the futuristic vibe of Courrèges, while Jonny Johansson of Acne Studios flipped domestic codes into wearable art.

Paris Fashion Week 2024 Day 3

Paris Fashion Week 2024 Day 3 was lit, colliding creative art with creative extremes. Nicolas Di Felice at Courrèges heightened the iconic 1960s futurism of the brand for a new, sensual simplicity. His minimalist collection included an asymmetry and a sly detail. However, Acne Studios muddied the waters of homebound and space-bound references, creating a collection that was as familiar as it was alien.

Olivier Rousteing at Balmain, on the other hand, was in a league of his own — sculptures shoulders, full force maximalism, and silhouettes. The day proved repeatedly that bold ideas will get glamorous in France once again.

Nicolas Di Felice entered the next phase of minimalism at Courrèges Paris Fashion Week 2024 Day 3. Sleek lines and subversive stylings constructed a Spring/Summer 2025 set. I couldn’t help but love the unconventional asymmetry that really gives these otherwise classic shapes an amazing twist. This collection was quite luxurious and extremely practical in terms of being pretty much black, cream, and nude.

One standout? The bralettes.

It was simple minimalism at its most risqué. I loved how this brand appealed to its futuristic ’60s roots in a more timely fashion than it probably was then. The rotating orb set design by Finnish artist duo Grönlund-Nisunen took the performance to a new level. It felt like walking into some serene future universe—the harmony of sensuality and minimalist style at Courrèges.

Sci-Fi World With Acne Studios: Aliens Aesthetics, Human Roots

At Acne Studios, the stage was more celestial. Jonny Johansson blurred wearability with a different dimension as fashion advanced to futuristic real-life levels. Draped curtains turned into gowns; trousers ballooned at the hip, rewriting old things into new ones.

I like how the Paris Fashion Week 2024 Day 3  blended something otherwordly with those very pedestrian references. Jonathan Lyndon Chase established the mood by converting the space into a sort of extraterrestrial living room/ Sculptures and strange domestic objects abounded. Chunky, sculptural jewelry and Swarovski-studded accessories clacked down in a cascade. Every piece straddled the line between zany fun and casual wear. Acne Studios spring/summer 2025 collection is definitely a bold step into the future.

Balmain: Sculptural Extravagance

Olivier Rousteing has never heard of keeping it low-key, we wouldn’t expect anything less. The ballistic angular mini-dresses, architectural shoulders, and surreal prints screamed “80s glamor” judging by the peaked shoulders. While photographs of disassembled faces gave a surreal spin to the collection. Rousteing ended the catwalk with playful 3D effects that featured a peering face winking just under the waistband.

I loved that — I thought it was theatrical as hell. OK, some of the looks crossed all sorts of lines – arguably a few too many lines- but that’s exactly what you sign up for at Balmain Rousteing. It is nothing if not unpredictable, so who knows what he has in store for us for the next season? This was maximalism at its best, and we are all for it.

Rabanne: World’s Most Expensive Bag

Rabanne showed off the world’s costliest bag in Paris Fashion Week. The bag came in the form of an 18-karat gold nano bag. Buyers can have it for 250,000 euros (around 15 million pesos). This one pays tribute to a gold mini dress. The dress that Paco Rabanne created for his muse, singer Françoise Hardy in 1968.

For Rabanne’s  Paris Fashion Week 2024 Day 3 collection, Julien Dossena rose to the occasion, creating a collection that was truly ageless but also youthful. The perfect casual meets sexy look-from blazers gathered in the back combined with glimmering, thigh-baring skirts. The gold leaf dress, sprinkling flakes as it swished along, was off the charts wonderful. It was a throwback to the brand’s roots, while managing to look quite fresh.

I absolutely loved the gold leaf dress; it was scattering flakes of gold as she moved. But this was a hat-tip to heritage in a very contemporary way.

Dossena mixed it up, pairing layers of silk organza with foil-coated lingerie and keeping the collaborations lively with new materials. The chainmail, the glitz, the frosty pastels—it just flowed. Rabanne’s balancing of masculine-meets-feminine and streetwear-meets-couture was full-on.

Stay Tuned!

Paris Fashion Week 2024 Day 3 showed us the sexiest minimalism at Courrèges. The alien silhouettes of Acne Studios, Balmain’s sculptural extravagance, and more. Or Rabanne’s shimmering triumph, one that felt distinctly rooted yet very much of the now? Each collection had me gaged, and Paris is taking my wig this season.

But it’s not over yet! Literally, I am so excited to see what else the runway has in store for (the last few days of) Paris Fashion Week.  So watch out people, we are not done with Paris yet!
