Chloé
Chloé started the day with a collection dedicated to strong, powerful, yet feminine women. Creative director Gabriela Hearst took inspiration from nature. Her designs were fluid and inspired by her artful sensibility, which garnered the spirits of the apparel user. The palette was neutral, in earth tones that favored a synchronized relationship with nature. The focus of this collection was sustainability and social consciousness, which are ever-increasingly crucial to the fashion community.

Rick Owens
Up next for the Paris Fashion Week day 4, Rick Owens shocked the crowd again with his avant-garde line. He embraced his iconic gothic aesthetic and challenged what it really meant to be beautiful. Owens exaggerated proportions and sharp silhouettes. These, in turn, led to pieces that had a strikingly theatrical feel about them, reminiscent of the quality of the draping techniques used, which really brought out the artist after each piece. With a stride of confidence, models showcased Owens’s skillful craftsmanship.
Rick Owens was undoubtedly my favorite show of Paris Fashion Week day 4. It felt like a set of some Hollywood fantasy series.

Mugler
Mugler delivered viewers into an apocalyptic future with its bold and architectural designs. Casey Cadwallader, the company’s creative director, pointed shoulders and sequin accents that rewrote the language of traditional tailoring. The collection focused on the perfect figure of an hourglass, highlighting waistlines with hips that were overemphasized. It also brought a fresh take on florals through futuristic floral designs that combine regal, over-the-top glamour with high-tech defiance. Rich shades of black amplified the attitude behind the collection.

Heliot Emil
Heliot Emil took this season as an opportunity to animate the contrast between nature and artificiality in fashion. The runway featured visually arresting a strobing electrochromic glass sculpture that lined the runway. Inspired by Iceland, creative director Julius Juul delivered a space that felt out from another Earth. The layered textures and minimalism of volcanic landscapes inspired the collection.

Casablanca
Finishing the day, Casablanca paid tribute to L.A.’s diverse cultures with bold hues. Amazingly, Tajer married his Mexican-American Lowrider inspirations with surf and skate influences. The runway was filled with highly stylized cars displaying the collection. Tajer crafted bright colors, bold patterns, and (literally) luxe compositions. The range expressed the idea of being free and demonstrated the beauty in difference.
